Guy Carp appoints new Bermuda chief

Guy Carpenter has named Kevin Fisher as the new head of its Bermuda office, as well as announcing the expansion of office capabilities and resources in the Bermuda reinsurance market.

Mr Fisher described 2006 as a landmark year for Guy Carpenter in which it placed in excess of $4bn in premium volume with Bermuda-based companies.

ABI insists fire safety scheme is temporary

Mervyn Skeet, the Association of British Insurers’ director of general insurance, has outlined how the trade body will ensure the Fire Safety Reinsurance Scheme will only last three to five years, and how it will should end criticism of brokers earning commission for arranging cover.
