Japan suffers further quake damage
Japan has been hit by a powerful series of earthquakes that have left up at least 25 people dead and thousands more homeless, in the worst event since the Kobe earthquake of 1994.
On 23 October a tremor measuring 6.8 in magnitude hit the Niigata region of central Japan. The quake was powerful enough to make buildings tremble in Tokyo, 150 miles to the south.
