Skipton in household push with NU

Skipton Building Society has teamed up with Norwich Union to relaunch its household product range, targetting non Skipton customers as well as existing ones for the first time.

The building society said the change aimed to reflect the way its customer’s lives have changed in that customers spend more money spent on clothes, gadgets and sports activities means.

The two policies are Your House, a simple and straightforward policy, ideal for people with a property that has no more than four bedrooms and is of standard construction, with contents up to the value of £40,000; and Home Plus, a tailor made policy for people who want to choose their own levels of insurance to reflect their individual lifestyle.

Skipton believes that latter is better suited to first time homeowners – who may want to choose their exact level of cover – or people with a larger home, who have extensive furnishings and valuable home contents. Both policies are flexible and additional packages can be added for personal belongings, sports, caravans, small craft, gardens, personal accidents, family legal protection, working from home and many more.

Spokeswoman Jennifer Holloway said: “At Skipton, we recognise that no two homes and lives are the same, so these new flexible products are great news for homeowners, allowing them to tailor their cover to the demands of their lifestyle.

“Also, for the first time, we are able to provide insurance for people who are not Skipton borrowers, giving everybody more choice. Both policies are provided by Norwich Union, the UK’s leading insurer with an excellent record in claims handling, so customers can rest assured that, once they have chosen the cover they need, their insurance will offer them security and peace of mind.”
