Industrial deafness verdict: Zurich responds
His Honour Judge Inglis today dismissed all seven occupational deafness “test cases” formally known as the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Deafness Test Litigation, heard in the High Court, Nottingham. Zurich was the lead insurer in three of the seven test cases and had a lesser interest in one other.
The Judge refused to accept that the majority of the claimants had been deafened by noise generated by machines within the factories. He also clarified that the employers had been reasonable in
