Possible movement ahead on US asbestos bill
The new head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Arlen Specter, has announced that he intends to hold a hearing on the stalled US asbestos compensation bill to see if a way can be found to get it moving again.
Senator Specter said that the hearing could be scheduled on 11 January. If the bill is approved by the committee then it could arrive on the floor of the Senate by early February, although SenatorOnly users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
