Groupama promotes two for regions push

Groupama Insurances has created two new regional business development manager positions to focus on the growing number of relationships with provincial intermediaries operating nationwide.

Simon Hurt and Anne Harrison both step up from their existing roles as strategic account managers. In their new roles, Mr Hurt and Ms Harrison aim to deliver Groupama’s sales and distribution strategy through the management of key business partnerships and will manage key account management teams within Groupama’s Intermediary Solutions operation.

They will both report to UK business development manager, Derek Findlayson. Derek Findlayson comments, “We decided that rather than relying on a single Head of Intermediary role as we have in the past, the creation of two senior regional business development manager roles, each operating throughout the UK, would put Groupama in a stronger position to service the increasing number of intermediaries with whom we now interface nationwide. This move also addresses specifically the impact of the ongoing consolidation that we are seeing amongst brokers and the way in which our broker distribution is changing. We think that by moving away from a traditional regional split between the two roles will enable Anne, Simon and their teams to build strong individual relationships and maximise the potential of the opportunities currently being presented to Groupama.”

Simon Hurt joined Groupama Insurances earlier in 2007 from MMA Insurance Company. With 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Mr Hurt was quickly promoted once he joined Groupama. In his new position, he will be able to use his considerable knowledge of the market and of his key customers to highlight opportunities and support the day to day needs of their businesses.

Anne Harrison has been with Groupama since 2004, when she joined as strategic account manager, successfully leading and restructuring the telesales team as well as managing several major high profile accounts. Prior to joining Groupama, Anne held a number of key roles at AXA Insurance and Norwich Union, forging a career spanning 10 years in the general insurance sector. Her proven track record as a highly motivated development manager means Anne is well placed to help her team get even closer to the panel of Groupama intermediaries that they service.

Derek Findlayson concludes: “The general insurance market is a very dynamic place and it is crucial that our business continues to change to meet the challenge. This flexibility will mean that our service proposition is highly targeted and offers close, local contact for a growing number of key intermediaries that need a more personal approach. These are important appointments and I am really pleased that both Anne and Simon have come from within the business as it serves to demonstrate the pool of talent within Groupama. Both Anne and Simon are very well known in the market and their expertise will be put to good use in these new roles.”
