Aon has announced three new appointments as it bolsters its provision of insurance and risk management expertise to the sporting world. Bill Garside is to join as a director within Aon's Global Risks division. Mr Garside will join from SBJ, where he is managing director of SBJ Sports. He brings with him almost 25 years' expertise in the sporting arena, particularly working with most of the Premier and Football League clubs and their governing bodies. He is tasked with developing Aon's business across a whole range of sports including football, cricket, rugby, racing and motorsport.

James Hands, with extensive experience of insurance broking for sporting organisations, joins as a director within Aon's Global Risks division.

Mr Hands also comes from SBJ and will supply expertise in arranging and placing complex insurance solutions for sports clients, particularly in the world of football and racing.

Aon has also hired Steve Talboys to build its presence in the provision of insurance services such as permanent total disability cover for professional footballers. Formerly from Panacea (Football), Mr Talboys was formerly a professional footballer for Wimbledon.
