Penny Black’s Social Diary: Aviva’s gala; sweet Peach treat

Social Diary

Penny Black has been out and about again, notebook in one hand and canapé in the other, keeping a keen eye on the insurance industry’s more whimsical moments.

Aviva doubles fundraising impact

Aviva colleagues raised more than £20,000 for Dementia UK at a charity gala held in March.

The evening supported Dementia UK, which provides specialist advice and reassurance to people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers.

Funds raised will help support Admiral Nurses delivering care across Norfolk and the wider UK.

The event was organised and hosted by Aviva employees, who raised more than £10,000 on the night, with Aviva matching contributions to double the total amount donated.

James Barnard, UKGI chief operating officer at Aviva, described the gala as a “powerful demonstration” of what can be achieved when people come together for a meaningful cause.

He also praised colleagues’ energy, commitment and fundraising efforts.

Barnard added that many employees have personal experience of dementia, giving the evening added poignancy.

PB peach Cakes

Peach reminded the Insurance Post team of its rebrand – Peach Pi no more – by sending cupcakes to our Houndsditch offices.

Super sweet and delicious, but the icing was vanilla rather than peach-flavoured. A missed branding opportunity there. Four stars.
