Penny Black’s Social Diary: Axa’s enthusiast; Biba’s buns

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Immaculate brilliance

At first glance, Axa UK’s LinkedIn post recalling the Women in Finance Charter Hackathon seems like your average event recap, complete with an engaging hook and lovely high quality images.

But once I scrolled down into the comments, past the wholesome words of gratitude from attendees, I discovered the most passionate review of an insurance employer I’ve ever seen.

Sachin-Thumba Nalik, a freelance social media creator, commented: “Thank you very much for being amazingly perfect! Thank you very much for your absolute perfection! Thank you very much for being the most perfect employer of all time! Thank you very much for your impeccable flawlessness, perfect genius, immaculate brilliance!”

If Axa UK is considering entering the Best Insurance Employer (large) category at next year’s Insurance Post British Insurance Awards, I recommend sharing the link to the survey with Nalik.

Penny Black Biba Awards

After the Insurance Post editorial team’s very successful night at the British Insurance Brokers’ Association Journalist & Media Awards, everyone was happy to skip down to One Under Lime for the event’s reception.

The icing on the cake of what was already a fantastic evening was the delicious spread that Biba had secured. One look at the shine on those brioche buns, and no further words need to be said.

Nothing makes winning Best Publication better than stuffing your face with sausage rolls and meatballs after. Five stars.

Out of Context

“I’m a big fan of movies. Anything Marvel-related, I live in that world.”

Ajay Mistry, co-chair at the Insurance Cultural Awareness Network shares his well-timed hobby, following Post’s most unexpected story of the year about Allianz Holdings CEO Colm Holmes being mistaken for Bruce Banner, the alter ego of the Incredible Hulk, after his likeness was spotted in photos taken on the set of the latest Spider-Man film.

Die Hard: Who is insurance’s answer to John McClane?
