LMG starts hunt for CEO as Lebecq moves to SRG
London Market Group CEO Clare Lebecq will be stepping down at the end of April to become group chief operating officer at Miles Smith-owner Specialist Risk Group.
Current SRG COO Lee Anderson has been promoted to group deputy CEO.
Lebecq, pictured, has been LMG CEO since November 2018 joining from JLT Specialty where she was head of operations.
According to LMG chair Matthew Moore the organisation is currently “fine-tuning” its agenda and “will be seeking candidates to take the group through the next stage of its development”.
Moore said: “Clare has achieved a tremendous amount for the LMG during her time as CEO. We are now seen as a genuine partner with the UK government, looking at trade and regulatory opportunities beyond Brexit, and a sustained campaign of market promotion has been built internationally.
“She has also led a number of projects on future skills and market modernisation that will be invaluable as the market considers the return to work in the aftermath of the pandemic. We would like to thank Clare for her contribution and leadership over the last two years and wish her all the best in her future role.”
Acquisitions
Lebecq will bring over 25 years of experience in the London Market insurance industry to her new role. Along with being a reinsurance broker this includes 10 years of focus on operations.
SRG was bought by private equity house HGGC last December.
Since then it has made a string of purchases, most recently trade credit specialist The Channel Partnership.
Prior to this it acquired managing general agent GB Underwriting in mid-January and broker KBIS British Equestrian Insurance at the start of the month.
Commenting on two people moves Warren Downey, SRG group CEO, said that Anderson plays “an integral role in the character and development of our group”.
“More of our business will be under his leadership going forward which is good news for all of us who know Lee and how he operates,” Downey continued.
Adding: “Clare Lebecq is an important figure in our industry and a tenacious and qualified leader.
“She has made a tremendous difference to our market in her role as CEO of London Market Group. We are excited to have her join our senior team as she takes responsibility for our operational platform and in particular the integration of our acquired businesses.”
