Stephanie Ogden, HDI Global

Ogden was named Young Achiever of the Year at the British Insurance Awards in 2016, joined German insurer HDI Global as distribution director in 2019, and became one of the sector’s youngest female CEOs in 2024.

She has swiftly risen through the sector’s ranks, and following the birth of her first child in December 2023, moved to her current role as CEO in September 2024.

As CEO for UK and Ireland at HDI Global, Ogden has overall responsibility for the strategic growth of the largest region in the group outside the US and Germany.

Since 2019, HDI has seen significant growth in the UK and Ireland, achieving record levels of profit for the group.

As CEO, she has recruited a diverse selection of industry talent to the UK and Ireland executive team, and to make sure the talent she attracts is retained, she played an active role in the launch of HDI’s Springboard leadership programme in 2024.

Designed to help identify and develop future talent from across the business, the programme has accelerated learning and development opportunities for a diverse range of 26 employees, giving them new skills and experience to help them navigate their career paths.

Alongside this work, she led a project to align the firm’s business units, delivering a more cohesive value proposition for brokers and clients while supporting her long-term strategic vision.

She only joined the industry in 2008 and prides herself on taking on challenging roles where there are often doubters sat in the wings.

She is the youngest country CEO for HDI globally, and similarly, in her final role at Allianz she was the youngest senior leader in the UK.

Ogden is committed to paving the way for others to follow in her trailblazing path and has supported young talent from a variety of backgrounds through HDI’s intern and apprenticeship programme.

During 2024, three apprentices joined the business, and a further seven individuals joined the programme at the end of the year.

She supports a good number of industry networks and future-facing initiatives, including iWin (as a member of the Worshipful Company of Insurers) and the Insurance Supper Club.

Outside of work, she is a magistrate for Central London and sits a minimum of twice a month at Westminster and City of London criminal magistrates courts.

When she isn’t leading HDI, or jailing criminals, she enjoys making delicious food – and running it off – and shared with Post the thing she is most proud of is having her first child in December 2023 after five years of gruelling fertility treatment.

Her many accomplishments mean she is sure to fly even higher up future Power Lists, and pave the way for others to develop and build their careers in a different way from the sector's past top movers and shakers.
