Chinese insurers to benefit from broader investment scope

The relaxation of investment rules for Chinese insurers should allow them to match the duration of their assets and liabilities more accurately and benefit from improved earnings stability, Fitch believes.

However, insurers will need to improve their risk management practices in light of the greater complexity of the assets they are now allowed to own, the ratings agency said.

FCA looking to address issues on claims definitions

Andrew Ruddle, the Financial Conduct Authority’s interim head of the department for insurance market analysis and policy, has said the regulator is looking at addressing issues about different claims definitions within insurance.
