Montpelier: Reinsurance rates likely to rise

The reinsurance industry has suffered an “unusually high frequency” of international catastrophes and rates could rise by 10% next year, according to Montpelier boss Tim Aman.

Aman, senior vice president and chief risk officer, said: “Despite a relatively benign hurricane season, we saw the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, earthquakes in New Zealand, flooding in Thailand
