Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford has established a specialist marine insurance broker, Junge Verzekeringsmakelaars, in Antwerp.

The launch will be the first subsidiary of Hamburg-based Junge & Co to be established outside Germany.

The firm said the launch will enhance Junge’s ability to provide bespoke risk placement services to marine clients in Benelux countries and the wider European market.

The business will trade as Junge Antwerp, with the new team headed by Captain Walter Justers. Junge & Co now employs more than 90 staff and further expansion in Europe and overseas is planned in the near future.

Toby Esser, Group CEO of CGSC, said: “Junge & Co is a highly regarded brand with an exceptional track record of strong and consistent growth in its core marine marketplace. By establishing an office in Antwerp, CGSC is continuing with its strategic development plans to deliver Junge & Co’s world-leading specialist Marine proposition to a more extensive client base.“

Rüdiger Hansel, CEO of Junge & Co, said: “We are extremely excited by this important new development in the history of Junge; we have recruited a first-rate team of industry professionals and we intend to use Junge Antwerp as a springboard to further international expansion of the Junge service offering.”
