Insurers landed with $43bn cat bill
The insurance industry was hit with a $43bn (£26.8bn) exposure for natural catastrophes and man made disasters during 2010, research from Swiss Re has revealed.
According to the reinsurer's Sigma study, the figure is up 60% on the exposure for 2009, with the economic loss for catastrophes reaching $218bn. In addition, the events caused 304 000 casualties -
