Prudential takeover of AIA given go ahead by FSA

Prudential saved its takeover of AIG’s main Asian unit after reaching an agreement with the UK regulator, the Sunday Times has reported.

The insurer agreed to provide a £1bn backstop fund to satisfy the FSA's concerns about the enlarged group's capital reserves and will rejig its plans for funding the purchase, the newspaper said
