Referee defends negligence claim for scrum injury
A rugby referee who was sued for allegedly failing to control the scrum properly in a rugby match, which resulted in a player being very seriously injured, has won his second defence in the Court of Appeal.
The claimant in Allport v Wilbraham had been catastrophically injured when a scrum failed to engage correctly during a match in October 1998. He sued the defendant referee, alleging that the refereeOnly users who have a paid subscription or are part of a corporate subscription are able to print or copy content.
