CNA in $331m Q3 net loss

CNA, the US (re)insurer, reported a third quarter loss of $331m, compared to $174m gain in the period a year before.

CNA's losses were mainly due to third quarter catastrophe losses of $168m, although net realised investment losses fell $423m in the same period compared to $38m in 2007.
