Aviva almost doubles personal lines premiums after Direct Line deal

Aviva has hailed a strong first half of 2026 with group operating profit increasing 24% to £1.32bn and UK personal lines premiums almost doubling following the acquisition of Direct Line.

The insurer said it had delivered £100m of run-rate cost synergies from the Direct Line integration and was on track to deliver around £350m of capital synergies by the end of 2026, while Direct Line
