Insurance Post editor Emma Ann Hughes has been named B2B Journalist of the Year at the Headlinemoney Awards, held in London last night (23 June).

The judges described the category as “exceptionally difficult” to decide, noting that two of the strongest entries came from journalists working on the same title.

“It was Emma who came out on top with a powerful selection of articles, including a comment piece that pulled few punches in holding her readers to account,” the judges said, referring to the article Lessons to learn from Lloyd’s investigation into Neal.

They praised Hughes for her ability to “take the issues of the day and turn them into exciting, relevant, informative B2B journalism”.

Particular recognition was given to her coverage of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (Pfas), commonly known as “forever chemicals”, and her reporting of a complex and controversial issue.

“The Pfas piece is an excellent read with the involvement of business insurance customers and companies on what they face with Pfas,” the judges, made up of senior editors and PR professionals from across the UK’s money media, commented.

Post’s chief reporter Harry Curtis was highly commended in the category.

Judges praised his varied and well-researched body of work, highlighting his imaginative choice of topics and fresh editorial angles.

Diversity Financial Inclusion Story OTY

Senior reporter Damisola Sulaiman also secured success on the night, winning Diversity and Financial Inclusion Story of the Year for her analysis, Smashing the class ceiling in insurance.

Judges commended Sulaiman’s “frank and comprehensive” examination of the barriers faced by people from lower socio-economic backgrounds considering careers in insurance.

“A very well-written and researched story on a critical issue that doesn’t receive as much attention as other aspects of diversity and inclusion,” one judge said, praising the article’s extensive research and thoughtful editorial insight.

Another added: “The takeaways for industry were clear and convincing.”

The latest accolades follow a strong awards run for Insurance Post.

At the 2025 Headlinemoney Awards, deputy editor Scott McGee was named B2B Journalist of the Year, meaning Post has boasted the winners two years in a row.

Also last year, the title was named Best Publication at the 43rd British Insurance Brokers’ Association Journalist & Media Awards, securing the honour for the first time since 2019.

At the same awards, McGee won Scoop of the Year, while Hughes received the Best Innovation award for her exclusive story on Admiral’s partnership with Google Cloud.
