Lloyd’s underwriting room to shut today

Lloyd’s has confirmed that it will close its underwriting room at 4pm on Thursday 19 March saying it was keeping in line with government advice to avoid all non-essential contact.

The marketplace previously closed the underwriting room at 1 Lime Street for 24 hours on Friday in a stress test of its coronavirus contingency plans including electronic trading.

Lloyd’s profits fall to £3.5bn

Lloyd’s profit before tax fell from £4.2bn in the first half of 2025 to £3.5bn in the first six months of 2026, as lower investment returns offset a "strong" underwriting performance.
