Cat bond issuance reaches $10.5bn in 2017

Catastrophe bond activity set a new record last year with full-year 2017 cat bond issuance totalling $10.5bn (£7.75bn), according to Property Claim Services.

The total, which excludes cat bond lite transactions, private cat bonds, and transactions focused on lines outside of property, is up more than 33%, beating the $7.8bn of bonds issued in 2014.
