Sagicor hit with $36.2m catastrophe loss in Q1

Sagicor “still expects” to record a profit during 2011 despite producing a loss in the first quarter following exceptional natuaral catastrophes affecting its property & casualty book.

The group has posted a loss of $11.1m for the first quarter of 2011 compared to a net income of $13.1m for the same period of 2010.

Its P&C subsidiary – Sagicor at Lloyd’s – incurred $36.2m in
