A Newcastle man who almost swindled his local authority’s insurance company out of £17,000 after lying about how he broke his ankle has been sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work.
Stephen Robinson, aged 30, was sentenced to the period of unpaid work, a £600 fine and a £60 victim surcharge after pleading guilty to fraud by false representation at Newcastle Magistrates Court
