Penny Black’s Insurance Week - 27 March 2014

penny-black

Penny was happily discussing sporting hobbies with US Risk UK boss Mike Lobb this week, when things took a turn for the sinister.

Lobb, a former rugby player and a regular weekend referee, was explaining to Penny that he hadn't really taken to golf, when he suddenly imparted that he "likes to hit things". Penny hopes the former Howden man has limited himself to balls dimpled and oval, rather than any other things that get in his way. After all, Penny packs quite a punch herself!

Having been a regular fixture at insurance industry social events for more years than one cares to remember, Penny has picked up the odd trick or two designed to roll back time and present a veneer of youthfulness - such as polyfiller and a trowel. But looking younger than you are is clearly a skill that has been mastered to sensei level by British Insurance Brokers' Association corporate affairs manager Andy Thornley, who at a recent dinner date took great pride in regaling the table on how he boldly walked into a recent Premier League football match on a child's ticket, despite sporting a full beard and being aged the wrong side of 30.
