Jackson's “grotesque” comment highlights the flaws in his own proposals for reform

Comments made by Lord Justice Jackson in his judgment in the Court of Appeal case of Pankhurst v. White, highlighted the fact that, if Jackson’s own proposals were adopted, solicitors would be entitled to deduct up to 25% of a claimant’s damages, according to DAS.

Lord Justice Jackson, has described the funding arrangements in a case which allowed the claimant’s solicitor to deduct costs from their client’s damages as “grotesque”.

FCA looking to address issues on claims definitions

Andrew Ruddle, the Financial Conduct Authority’s interim head of the department for insurance market analysis and policy, has said the regulator is looking at addressing issues about different claims definitions within insurance.
