Manchester insurer given send off

During last month a meeting was held to enable the members of the Insurance Institute of Manchester to take leave of one of their oldest colleagues, Mr John Bruce Cairnie, late Manchester Secretary of the Liverpool and London Globe Insurance Company, and to present him, before his departure for the South of England, with a set of silver candlesticks and a rose bowl, as a mark of good-will and appreciation of all that he has done, over a long period, for the institute. Mr Cairnie, gave an interesting account of some of his early days in the city and spoke of numerous changes that he had seen during the last 40 years, both in men and methods.
