Dean triggers mass evacuation of vast Pemex offshore field

Mexican state oil producer Pemex has initiated a mass evacuation of 13,000 workers from its oil installations in its key Cantarell complex of oil fields in the bay of Campeche as Hurricane Dean approaches.

In a press release the company said it had started the initial phase of evacuation plans at 11am local time on Sunday 19th August. The operation involves the use of 55 supply ships and 29 helicopters
