DCA decision on insurance regulation

Mark Boleat, head of claims management regulation, Department of Constitutional Affairs has confirmed that insurance companies will not be regulated by the new regulatory body. Mr Boleat, speaking at the Post Magazine Claims Club conference today, had previously suggested insurers could be regulated under new powers due to come into force next year, with regard to third party claims capture.

Mr Boleat told delegates: "Insurers, lawyers and industrial trade unions that deal with members and their families will be exempt from regulation."
