No-win-no-fee libel actions criticised
Andrew Sellers, UK & International TMT Claims Manager at Hiscox Insurance Company has called for the reform of the conditional fee agreement (CFA) in defamation cases. Speaking at the 5RB media and entertainment law conference, held yesterday, 21 September 2006. The conference, held by 5RB, leading barristers in media and entertainment law, was sponsored by Hiscox, specialists in media insurance.
Hiscox has seen an increase in the cost of insurance claims paid out to publishers who have been sued by claimants backed by a CFA.
A CFA (often referred to as a “no-win no-fee” agreement)
