Gen Re execs worried about AIG's accounting while hatching finite Re deal
HARTFORD, Conn. January 11 (BestWire) — At the headquarters of General Reinsurance Corp., in Stamford, Conn., Richard Napier and a handful of key executives were frustrated. Maurice "Hank" Greenberg wanted a response within weeks, but they weren’t sure how to proceed on his request and they didn’t have enough information on what the then-head of American International Group Inc. wanted from them.
“We were trying to understand fundamentally, what AIG’s needs were,” Former Gen Re Senior Vice President Napier said in a federal courtroom in Hartford, Conn., on Jan. 10.
