Glacier says expects to produce a net underwriting profit for 2008

Glacier, the European (re)insurer, said that it expects to generate a net underwriting profit, despite estimating that it will be hit by a total of $71m of claims stemming from US Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

The group said that it expects that premium income will grow 15% ahead of last year.

On the investment side, it said that its investment assets over the course of the year had grown by $69.3m to $780
