Arch and Validus in running to buy Transatlantic Re

Bermudian rivals Arch Capital and Validus have been tipped as possible buyers of Transatlantic Re, industry sources have told Reinsurance .

Transatlantic Re came under the spotlight after its major shareholder AIG – which owns 59% of the company – was virtually nationalised by the US Government after falling foul of the subprime crisis.
