Cats and week investment income forces Odyssey's Q2 net income slide

Odyssey Re, the Bermudian (re)insurer, said that second quarter net income dropped to $65.2m from $145.5m a year earlier, hurt by catastrophe losses and weaker investment income.

The company said that catastrophe losses for the quarter were $23.2m – principally related to its Euro Asia division, which sent the combined ratio up to 98.7% from 93.9%.
