$260m Japan quake risk shifts to capital markets

A $260m catastrophe bond offering protection against a major earthquake in Tokyo has been placed by Munich Re on behalf of the East Japan Railway Company.

The bond issued by a special purpose vehicle has a spread of 2.75 percentage points above the three-month Libor and was placed with international institutional investors.

Rating agency Standard & Poor
