The broker only syndicate set up by two Lloyd's big hitters expects to exceed expectations after a series of recruitment roadshows (PM 16 March).
Formed by ex-Link lead underwriter George Higginson and former Wellington underwriter Steve Windich, the new syndicate addressed over 500 brokers at six dates ending in Birmingham last Friday.
Under the terms of the venture brokers will only be able to trade with the syndicate if they invest a minimum of £20 000 in the shape of a credit note and £2000 cash.
Mr Windich said the response from brokers had been "excellent" and although it was too early to comment he predicted it would receive double the £1.5m cash needed to get started, giving it a capacity of £30m.
The only problem the new syndicate has experienced is with its name. Its provisional idea had to be abandoned as a city broker had already laid claim to it. Mr Windich said it would now hold a competition among brokers to find a suitable replacement.
The agency name for the venture which hopes to begin trading in August will be Higginson and Windich.
