A "don't panic" proclamation has come from Francis Loheac, the
general secretary of the 29 member European federation of insurance
associations, over the race for year 2000 compliancy. He believes
indemnifiable consequences for businesses arising from foreseeable
computer malfunctions can still be avoided. "Depending on the market, and
the conditions agreed on a case-by-case basis with their insurer,
undertakings which adopt valid measures in liaison with their insurance
company should be able to obtain cover for those risks which might still
occur despite the precautions taken," he said.
