Indie trial: former manager on claims reserving
The prosecution called its first witness, Stuart Pettet, who joined Independent in 1987 as assistant UK property manager, writes Andrew Tjaardstra . Mr Pettet, speaking in front of the jury, expressed concern about the length of time claims were staying on the white boards at Independent adding that many claims were outstanding for months, whereas an ordinary length of time to register claims from manual records was 14 days.
Questioned by prosecutor Andrew Baillie QC Mr Pettet told the jury that there was also scant information on the nature of the accident or the impact on the claims reserves.
