Lomas begins his defence
Former Independent Insurance finance director Dennis Lomas took the witness stand this afternoon and was asked by his barrister, Mukel Chawla QC, to describe his impressions of Michael Bright and Philip Condon who arrived together in 1987 when Allstate was sold to New Scotland Insurance. David Worsfold reports.
Mr Lomas was working at Allstate as corporate accountant at the time. He was subsequently promoted by Mr Bright to chief accountant and then, in 1991, finance director.
