Reg Brown, president of the Chartered Insurance Institute, is to step
down as active underwriter of RE Brown syndicate 702 at Lloyd's after 16
years. His deputy, Andreas Loucaides, will succeed him as he becomes
managing director of Markel Syndicate Management, which will be managing
four syndicates in 2001, including 702. Markel took over the former
Octavian syndicates when it acquired their parent company, Terra Nova,
earlier this year.
