Risk Forge and The Future of InsurTech in London
Tuesday 7 February, 4.30pm-5.30pm

LimeStreet Digital Partners was formed on 1 April 2016 and is on a mission to build a permanent, digital innovation facility dedicated to cultivating talent, harnessing emerging technologies and enabling rich collaboration between industry, academia and digital entrepreneurs. The project has been christened RiskForge.

Considerable research, development, planning and engagement has already been undertaken ahead of full launch this year. This includes dialogue with trade bodies, institutions, industry verticals and investors.

The founders will introduce the project, discuss progress and experience to date then explore partnership and alliance opportunities that could be facilitated or supported by the APPGIFS.

Topics to be discussed will include:

  • What is InsurTech?
  • Current landscape and developments (UK and abroad), Brexit opportunities
  • Why London matters, the global insurance dominion
  • The innovation imperative and the fourth industrial revolution
  • Creating the InsurTech eco-system, building on FinTech
  • Outreach, talent, diversity and inclusion

Safeguarding the InsurTech consumer - Providing protection without stifling innovation
Tuesday 7 March, 4.30pm-5.30pm
Committee Room 17, House of Commons

As UK consumers embrace applications in the InsurTech and FinTech space to manage health, budgets and investments, what expectations should they have that industry and government are safeguarding the environment?

Apps doing the right thing
Apps available in the UK but designed for other markets.
Apps without privacy policies or insufficient consumer protection
Apps with nefarious business models
Fraudulent applications

We have longstanding consumer protection in the insurance and finance space.  There is also room for consumers to lower their protection by opting into certain applications to derive a perceived benefit.

What should be the way forward for consumers who assume they are protected but are not and the implications on their insurance rates, annuities, etc.? What is the definition of a “safe” application?

This discussion will outline the state of play with consumer protection on mobile apps and options for moving forward.

Confirmed speaker:
Justin Campbell, Chair, Technology Practitioner Group, Investment & Life Assurance Group (ILAG)
