Broken bolt case sets EL precedent

Hammond v Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and Others (Court of Appeal - 11 June 2004)

The claimant, an experienced mechanic, was working on a police patrol van and attempted to undo one of the wheel bolts. The bolt sheared off, causing the claimant to fall awkwardly and strike his hand
