Penny Black’s Social Diary: NGIN’s yoga; ISC’s sweet potato

Social Diary

Penny Black is back, sharing the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector's social media posts.

Insurance yogis

I was quite pleased to see the Next Gen Insurance Network’s LinkedIn post about its latest rise and shine yoga session, hosted with Clyde & Co.

There was something quite tickling about seeing a bunch of insurance professionals with their mats and yoga gear in what is very clearly an office environment and was a perfect representation of the Gen Z workforce.

I particularly applaud the image where they’re doing a pose called extended side angle (I will confess, I had to look it up).

With more than 185 years under my belt, I find someone being able to touch their toes quite impressive.

Penny’s Lunch Box

Two plates of roasted sweet potato.

ISC Group’s women’s cardiovascular health event featured roasted sweet potato topped with smoked avocado and dukha, served on absolutely stunning blue ceramic plates with intricate white patterns.

The food itself was lovely but honestly, half my attention was on those plates. They’re the kind of tableware that makes everything look more appetising. Five stars.

Out of context

Neil Garrett, sales director at Verisk, upholds the Italian custom of cappuccinos being a breakfast drink exclusively.

Is it third time lucky for Axa as it merges divisions again?

Content Director’s View: With Axa UK and Ireland combining its personal and commercial businesses into one, Jonathan Swift reflects on why insurers often oscillate between splitting and merging these divisions, and what led the insurer to believe this latest move will pay off now despite similar attempts in 2005 and 2016.
