Large vehicle operators must take action to stop further increases in cyclist injuries and fatalities or face investigation by the police or the Health and Safety Executive, according to Norwich Union.
The insurer said retrofitting close proximity mirrors to large goods vehicles – which eliminate lorry driver blindspots - should be a priority, though not required by law until 2009.
