Career development: Recognition for Chaucer's graduate scheme

Lloyd's of London building

Chaucer, the specialist Lloyd's insurance group, has been chosen as the ‘top company for graduates to work for in accountancy and insurance', for companies that take on less than 30 graduates a year, by The Job Crowd, a UK-based graduate job review website.

It is the third consecutive year Chaucer has won the accolade. The Job Crowd identified the top graduate employers from more than 6000 reviews submitted by graduates in over 300 companies.

Chaucer was highly rated by its graduates in areas including support, culture and their colleagues. The firm was also third in the ‘Top 100 Companies for Graduates to Work' for in all industries.

Through a series of specialist placements across the business, Chaucer's Graduate Scheme aims to develop expertise in every area of underwriting, including risk selection, pricing and placement, account management and reinsurance.

The Award Ceremony took place at The Intercontinental Hotel, London Park Lane, with Alison Francis, talent and development consultant, Catriona McCaughey, HR associate and Ruth Sharkey, graduate trainee there representing Chaucer.

Sharkey, graduate trainee said: "My ambition is to work in an international environment and use my language skills, so underwriting offers me many opportunities. Chaucer's scheme has provided me with hands-on experience and invaluable support for my insurance studies, which has been a great start to my underwriting career."

Alison Francis, talent and development consultant at Chaucer, added: "We are delighted to win this award for the third year running. It is a proud moment for us to be recognised for our Graduate Scheme and I want to say a huge thank you to all our graduates for their feedback and everyone involved in making our scheme a resounding success."
