Bupa data breach could have led to £440m fine under GDPR rules

Bupa’s breach of 108,000 records could have cost the company £440m under data protection rules to be introduced next year.

In punishment for a data breach, a company can face fines of 4% of its revenue under the General Data Protection Regulation, or €20m – whichever is higher.

The Bupa group had total revenues last year
