Penny Black's Insurance Week - 25 February 2016

Penny enjoyed half term spoiling her young relatives with a trip to London’s Kidzania. This theme park offers an indoor town staffed by the children who visit each day.

Children experience the world of work via play with adult ‘zupervisors’ and earn kidsoz, which they can then spend on activities or gifts and food. Jobs included being a fireman – riding in the firetruck to put out a fake fire in a nearby hotel – a pilot or cabin crew, a beat policeman, news reporter, animator, doctor, dentist and even pit lane crew for a fake Formula 1 team, with Renault, H&M and British Airways strongly featured in the brainwashing… sorry sponsorship. Penny couldn’t help but notice, there was no insurance office underwriting the shops nor any claims handlers or loss adjusters dealing with the aftermath of the fire for the poor aforementioned hotel. Insurers are always talking about attracting the younger generation into the sector so surely they are missing a real trick here.
