Student tech targeted by thieves but 50% have no insurance cover

Students are targeted for their tech

Over one in 20 students (6%) has fallen victim to theft since 2014, with mobile phones topping the list of stolen items, the Chartered Insurance Institute reports today (14 September), noting that more than half of students (54%) have no insurance for their possessions while at university.

The CII adds that students have become an attractive target for thieves, as they now take on average £2,300 worth of equipment to university with them. Most of that is made up of technology, such as
