Penny Black’s Insurance Week - 9 October

Penny discovered this week even the great and good of the insurance industry can be afflicted with the plague of the sector – whiplash.

Enjoying a day at one of Florida’s water parks on a previous holiday, Insurance Fraud Bureau director Ben Fletcher decided to take on the wave pool and, after being repeatedly thrashed around in the turbulent water, emerged with a jolly sore neck. Had Fletcher decided to make a claim, Penny wonders if some eagle-eyed investigators might not raise their eyebrows over its cause. Meanwhile, Brightside and Go Skippy founder Arron Banks garnered headlines with his support for the UK Independence Party this week, but it’s clear that not everyone is enamoured with Farage’s party. Biba, for one, hit the Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem conferences to lobby hard for members. Surely they would be attending the Ukip conference, in sunny Doncaster? Alas, executive director Graeme Trudgill told Penny the train fare to Yorkshire was not deemed to be the best use of members funds. Arron will be furious!
