Deadly typhoon causes heavy disruption in Japan

Two US airmen are missing and one is dead after heavy surf from Typhoon Phanfone pulled them out to sea on the island of Okinawa.

Search efforts for the two US airmen, part of 25 000 US troops based in Okinawa, were hampered by strong winds of up to 144km/hr.
